There is a day for everything right? So it's good soils have a turn!! :)
When we started Your Farmer back in 2011, we had one burning question: why wasn't the market rewarding farmers who took care of their soil? We were raising top-notch cattle on healthy pastures, only to be left with spare change while supermarket prices stayed sky-high.
That got us thinking differently about soil...
You see, healthy soil isn't just dirt - it's the living foundation that connects makes food healthy (or not!). Our ecological farmers work with nature's patterns to build soil that's alive and kicking. The result? Premium, nutrient-rich food that's good for your health, good for the environment, and good for your conscience.
How Do We Know Our Soil is Healthy? We look! We do biological assessments to see how the soil life is thriving, and where it needs help. If the biology is thriving then we know we have good water holding capacity, less compaction and our plants can access all the nutrients they need. As we say, good food makes good food.
What Makes Our Approach Different? While many modern farming practices treat soil like a chemistry set, our ecological farmers treat it like a living community. They use methods like:
Carefully planned grazing that mimics natural patterns
Diverse pastures with deep-rooted plants
Regular soil monitoring and testing
Working with natural cycles, not against them
The proof is in the produce - our customers tell us they can taste the difference that comes from healthy soil. As third-generation farmers ourselves, we're proud to be building soil health that will support farming families for generations to come.
A Healthy Promise When you subscribe to Your Farmer, you're not just getting premium food delivered to your door. You're supporting farmers who see soil as a precious resource to be nurtured, not mined. It's a promise between farmer and family - that every farm enhances the environment that sustains it.
