Product FAQs

What size eggs come in the dozen?

Mixed large free-grading from Ecolibrium Farm, typically 55–65 g per egg. Pastured hens lay across a range of sizes naturally; we don't reject the smaller ones because the nutritional density is the same and the flavour is identical.

Are these eggs really pasture-raised, not "free-range"?

Yes, Sam's hens at Ecolibrium Farm rotate across fresh pasture daily, eating grass, insects and worms. They go outside from three weeks old and live their lives outdoors. No barns, no doors-with-no-traffic, no synthetic feed additives. The orange yolk is the proof.

How much do pasture-raised eggs cost compared to supermarket?

More than caged or barn eggs, comparable to or cheaper than the premium "pasture-raised" labels at Coles or Woolies, and ours actually deliver what the label promises. The cost difference reflects the rotational labour and the slower laying cycle of hens that actually walk around and forage.

How long do pastured eggs stay fresh?

Properly fridged, our pastured eggs stay fresh 4–6 weeks from delivery. Pastured eggs from healthy hens have stronger shells and last longer than conventional. Float test still works: in a glass of water, fresh eggs sink and lay flat; older eggs stand on end; floaters go to compost.

Can I order just eggs without a meat box?

Yes, eggs can be ordered as a one-off or set up on a recurring delivery. No meat subscription needed. Pop your postcode in to check the next run for your area.

Are these eggs suitable for someone allergic to grain-fed eggs?

We can't make medical claims about allergy suitability, but pastured eggs have a different fatty-acid profile and a fundamentally different feed background to grain-fed commercial eggs. Many customers tell us they tolerate our eggs better than supermarket eggs. Always check with your GP if you've had a reaction before.
