In 2011, David and Melissa launched Australia's first expert-verified paddock-to-plate online food subscription; born from a drought, built on a principle: better, not bigger. David holds a BSc in Ecological Agriculture, is an MSc Agriculture candidate at the University of New England, a qualified Human Ecologist, a certified Soil Food Web Lab Technician, and a practising Biodynamic farmer. Melissa has overseen food safety and logistics since day one.

Who are the farmers behind Your Farmer?
Six named farms across NSW. The Savill family (David & Melissa) grow grass-fed beef on biodynamic pasture in the Southern Highlands, they founded Your Farmer in 2011. Ecolibrium Farm (Sam) raises truly pastured hens for our eggs. Musset Holdings grow our potatoes, mushrooms and seasonal vegetables. The Loch and Kipdale Lambs raise our pasture-raised lamb. Tractorless Wines are coming with biodynamic wine soon. Every one was personally chosen by David.
How does Your Farmer choose which farmers join the network?
Every farmer is personally chosen by David. He visits the property, walks the paddocks, inspect growing methods, review soil-biology results, and assess practice against the eight Your Farmer Certified outcomes. The farmer also has to share the values, better, not bigger. We've turned away farms that grew the right way but scaled the wrong way. The network was always meant to be a partnership, not a marketplace.
Can I visit the farms?
We run seasonal farm visits and open days. These are announced to our subscribers first. It's the best way to see where your food comes from and meet the people who grow it. Join our mailing list to learn when these happen.

Where is Ecolibrium Farm and what makes their pastured eggs different?
Ecolibrium Farm is a partner farm in our NSW network, run by Sam. The hens go outside from three weeks old and live their lives on rotated pasture, eating grass, insects and worms. No antibiotics, no hormones, no synthetic anything. The deep orange yolk and richer flavour are the proof. This is what "pasture-raised" actually means, not a barn with a door.
What's the CSA model and why does it matter?
CSA, Community Supported Agriculture, means your family commits to buying direct from the farmer, and the farmer commits to growing food the right way. Together you share the harvest and the responsibility for a healthier food system. When farmers have secure income from real customers, they can invest in long-term ecological practice instead of short-term shortcuts. That's how soil gets healed and how good food becomes the norm.
Why does Your Farmer use multiple farmers for the same product?
Each farmer brings something different, different soil, different country, different seasonal cycle. Multiple producers means we can keep delivering year-round through droughts, floods and the gaps between calving and lambing. It also keeps any one family from being overworked. Different farms, same standard.
Are Your Farmer farmers certified organic?
Some are; that wasn't the point. Organic certification measures inputs (chemicals you can't use). Our farms are certified to a higher bar: the eight Your Farmer Certified outcomes, which measure what the farm actually produces, soil health, water quality, biodiversity, animal welfare, the lot. Several of our partner farms hold organic certification on top of that, but eco-grown is the standard we hold them all to.
About Your Farmer (the business)
Your Farmer® is the trading name of Farmer Direct Online Pty Ltd — the ecological food subscription founded in 2011 by farmers David and Melissa Savill on their family farm near Bowral, in the NSW Southern Highlands. Your Farmer was Australia's first paddock-to-plate online subscription. Over 15 years, the network has grown to include more named family farms — each sharing the same ecological vision, each located in the Southern Highlands near the Savill home farm. Your Farmer delivers to NSW and ACT households within 150 km of the farms.
A short history
The business has carried three names over its life:
- 2011 to 2014: Mulgunnia Organics (sole trader)
- 2014 to 2025: Your Farmer® (sole trader)
- 2025 to now: Farmer Direct Online Pty Ltd (incorporated)
