Your Farmer Kitchen — recipes built around ecological produce and pasture-raised meat

Your Farmer Kitchen is where the food in our network comes to life. Every recipe is built around the seasonal produce and pasture-raised meat from the ecological farmers we work with — the kind of food that tastes like it should, because it was grown the way it should be.

About Your Farmer Kitchen

Your Farmer Kitchen is the recipe home of Your Farmer — a farmgate-to-plate platform connecting families directly with the ecological growers behind their food. We believe good food starts in the paddock, not the kitchen. When produce and meat are grown ecologically — in living soil, in tune with natural systems — the flavour and nutrition speak for themselves. Our job in the kitchen is simply not to get in the way.

Our recipes are written by the Your Farmer team and tested on the same cuts and produce that ship in our boxes. If a recipe calls for grass-fed mince, that's the mince our subscribers receive. If a recipe leans on a slow-cooker cut, it's because that's what's in the box that month and we want it on your table that night.

How we develop recipes

Every recipe here is designed around the seasonal produce and pasture-raised meat from farmers in our network. The cooking is simple, the ingredients do the heavy lifting, and the meals are made for families to share around the table. Whether it's a quick weeknight dinner or a slow Sunday roast, we keep things honest and approachable.

Where a recipe references a specific cut from one of our CSA packs (Pack A, B, C, or D), we've tested it with that exact cut so you know the timing and technique transfer to your kitchen. Where we lean on a particular technique — slow braising, dry-brining, low-and-slow roasting — it's because that technique gets the most out of the ingredient, not because we're chasing trends.

The bigger picture

Our recipes are also a way of supporting the bigger picture: every meal cooked from ecologically grown ingredients is a vote for the farmers committed to growing food that's better for people, better for the land, and better for the future.

If you'd like to read more about how the food in our boxes is grown — the soil biology, the animal welfare standards, the farming systems behind it — you'll find that on our ecological farming and know your farmer pages.

Why we publish recipes

The recipes on the Your Farmer blog exist for one reason: to help our subscribers get the most from their boxes. Where we make a claim about cut, technique, or nutrition, it's grounded in what we've cooked in our own kitchen and the ecological context the food was grown in. Where a recipe is adapted from a tradition or a known source, we say so. We won't waste your time with filler — these are the recipes we cook for our own families.

Frequently Grazed Queries

Who writes the recipes for Your Farmer Kitchen?

Recipes are written and tested by the Your Farmer team, David and Melissa, plus the cooks in our kitchen, using the exact cuts, eggs and produce that ship in our subscriber boxes. If a recipe calls for grass-fed mince, that's the mince our subscribers receive. If it leans on a slow-cooker cut, it's because that's what's in the box that month. We won't waste your time with filler.

Do the recipes match the cuts in my CSA box?

Yes. Where a recipe references a specific cut from one of our CSA packs (Pack A, B, C or D), we've tested it with that exact cut so the timing and technique transfer straight to your kitchen. The recipes are designed around what's actually in the box that month, not a Pinterest fantasy.

What kind of cooking does Your Farmer Kitchen focus on?

Simple, honest cooking that lets the ingredient do the heavy lifting. Whole-animal, nose-to-tail. Designed for families to share around the table, quick weeknights and slow Sundays both. Tested for flavour first and weeknight feasibility second. If we lean on a technique like slow-braising or dry-brining, it's because it gets the most out of the cut, not because we're chasing trends.
